Hello, today I have started to work on making a 3D stick-man fight based on Alan Beckers' Animation series. I wanted to pay homage to his series while also developing my skill set as a 3D generalist. Being good at humanoid animation is particularly useful especially in game development due to the amount of interactions that the player (Who is typically a humanoid) has with the world around it. When it comes to running, walking, interacting, sitting.
This current animation has no audio and is purely rough animation animated on 2's. I wanted to capture some of the style from anime's such as Baki and Dragon Ball : Super / Dragon Ball Z. Using them as inspiration and re enacting scenes I was able to use my live action footage to base the animations on.
This animation was also made using the cinematic approach, where if you don't see the part of the body currently animated, there's no reason to animate it. So any body part not on screen was not animated or moved out off the way to allow me to create a more dynamic animation that has more weight to it.
